Hurricane Helene Recovery Update for October 4

Since Hurricane Helene introduced herself as a very large, catastrophic and quick-moving storm, Carolina Water Service crews have spent tireless days working to recover. Like many of you, we are seeing devastation like we’ve never experienced before. Because of the geography and terrain in our beautiful N.C. mountains, we are navigating territory that is vast, and often dangerous.

Our commitment to our customers and teammates remains the same – to restore services as quickly as possible, while remaining focused on safety. Our efforts are moving in the right direction.

- We’ve rescinded two of our initial 32 boiling water advisories. Samples are being tested for another four and we anticipate that number to accelerate daily. You can view updated alerts on our website and from My Utility Account.

- We’ve set up our Central Command Center in Newland and have boots on the ground across the entire service area.

- Water and food supplies have been arriving daily for us to distribute to customers, support agencies and employees.

- We are working with contractors to repair pipe in coordination with road repairs.

- Recovery plans are being implemented for the most severely impacted systems including temporary infrastructure where needed.

Thank you for your continued patience and for your support. We appreciate those of you who have reached out to thank our team for their efforts. It is a privilege to serve you!
