The "People's Choice" for Drinking Water

Sunshine Water Services has won Florida Section American Water Works Association (FSAWWA) Region III’s 2024 “People’s Choice Award” for Best Tasting Drinking Water in Central Florida.

Sunshine bested a field of water utility entities representing eight municipalities during the “blind” taste test portion of FSAWWA’s annual Drinking Water Contest, held in Orlando on August 7.  The winning sample hailed from a Sunshine Water-operated system in Lake County.

“We’ve produced the very finest drinking water in all of Central Florida— the people have spoken,” said Ned Biggs, Sunshine Area Manager (pictured below). “It was a team effort and I’m very very proud of everybody here that brought this award home.

“We take immense pride in our water and look forward to continuing to provide it for many years to come.”

The American Water Works Association is an international, nonprofit, scientific, and educational entity dedicated to improving drinking water. Its Florida Section is the premier water association in Florida, with nearly 3,000 members, including 130 utilities that collectively supply potable water to more than 80 percent of the state's population.
Sunshine's "People's Choice" win proved to be timely indeed as (1) August is National Water Quality Month; and (2) this year marks the 50th anniversary of the landmark Safe Drinking Water Act.
