Chalet Village North - Weather Impact Information

Dear Homeowners,

The recent rain and resulting landslide in your area has the potential to impact water service. Tennessee Water Service (TWS) is taking proactive steps to support continued service. This letter provides important information to keep customers informed.

TWS and Sevier County employees are monitoring a section of water main located on Edgewood Lane. This section of water main is located in an area heavily impacted by recent weather events. This impact has placed the water main at risk for failure. This could potentially result in an interruption in water service and boil water advisory for approximately 100 residents in the surrounding area.

TWS is prepared to address any issues should the water main fail. We have:

  • Partnered with the County to monitor the site 24/7 until a plan is developed to address any further undermining/sliding.
  • Clearly identified, marked, and communicated to all appropriate parties the locations of isolation valves so, if needed, we can limit impact by isolating the impacted section of water main.
  • Procured materials through our North Georgia facilities and identified additional sources for materials if needed through the City of Gatlinburg. This will help reduce the duration of a possible outage.
  • Partnered with contractors as well as the County so they are on standby to mobilize equipment to the area once it is deemed safe to enter.
  • Coordinated a plan to provide bottled water, if needed, for potable and non-potable use.

We are working hard to keep service flowing, while also keeping our team members safe. Rest assured, a plan is in place, should it be needed. We thank the County for their efforts to clean up and remediate the area. It is our hope that we do not have to take any further action.
