This is an important message from Carolina Water Service Inc of North Carolina, your local water provider for the Sugar Mountain community. Customers will experience periods of low pressure and or outages in the distribution system due to a main break in your area. Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increase the potential for back siphonage and the introduction of bacteria into the water system.
As a precaution, we recommend that you vigorously boil water for 1-2 minutes before drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing your teeth, or washing dishes. As an alternative, bottled water may be used. The North Carolina Division of Water Resources Public Water Supply Section has been contacted concerning this event.
The precautionary boil water advisory will remain in effect until a satisfactory bacteriological survey is received. Customers will be notified by a second phone notification message once the boil advisory can be rescinded.
